About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for you as a Youth Justice Advisor (Senior Community Services Advisor) in establishing and maintaining effective working partnerships with relevant school staff, relevant Area, Divisional and Central colleagues to work collaboratively to support policy implementation to improve outcomes for young people connected or at risk or connecting to the criminal justice sytem. The role support continual improvement of the Justice Educaiton and Engagement Branch which includes Education Justice Initiative (Criminal and Family Division) and Education Early Intervention Officers.
The role has responsibility to build capability of Area and Regional staff and external stakeholders to understand youth justice processes and role of the Justice Education Engagement Branch. Activities include delivering professional learning, running workshops, providing consultationand advice. This will include building understanding of the impacts on children and young people of their involvement with youth justice.
The YJA may be required to travel to Children's Court locations in the South-Western Victoria region (where applicable) to provide referral assistance and supprt for the the team.
The YJA will provide oversight and monitoring of young people transitioning to and from remand or custody to ensure coordinated support from Parkville College, school and the young person's care team.
