The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Workforce Development Manager to provide a critical role at Dame Phyllis Frost Centre.
About the Business Unit
The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria (CV), Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.
CV is responsible for the implementation of policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
CV also sets strategy, policy and standards for the management of the state's system of correctional facilities whilst also developing programs for the management and rehabilitation of prisoners and the community-based supervision of offenders.
As part of the CJS group, the DPFC is a 694-bed maximum-security facility for female offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice.
About the Role
Reporting to the Prison Services Manager, the Workforce Development Manager is responsible for integrating workforce development and human resources functions to support operational readiness, staff capability, wellbeing and sustainable workforce practices. The role works closely with operational leaders to translate organisational priorities into practical, fair and consistent people outcomes aligned with CV frameworks and the Safer Prisons Strategy. The role operates with delegated authority to make people, workforce development and prioritisation decisions within established policy, industrial instruments and Corrections Victoria frameworks, escalating matters of significant operational, industrial or reputational risk as required.
