WAVES Trainers will deliver high-quality training, coaching and capability building services to support safe systems of work in Victorian government schools. The Trainers will train school staff in a new Protective Intervention Training module (developed in partnership between the Department of Education and independent experts) and provide related safety coaching for staff. Trainers will have detailed knowledge of department policies relating to workplace safety, student behaviour, and their application within school based settings.

Position Specific Criteria:
Criteria 2: 'Interpersonal Skills' - Sees things from another's point of view and confirms understanding. Understand motivations, needs and wants of stakeholders and their impact on service delivery. Tailor's communications according to audience and/or audience preference.
Criteria 3: `Customer Focus' - Identifies and responds to customer requirements. Uses understanding of the customers' context to tailor services and ensure outcomes are delivered. Effectively manages risks to service delivery.
Criteria 4: `Operational Service Delivery' Determines service delivery resource allocation. Provides specialist professional services or advice.
WAVES Trainers will have specialist expertise in staff safety, student behaviour support and related fields and be responsible for:
Required: This role requires experience in school operations and/or support services.
Highly desirable: Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in occupational therapy, behavioural analysis or other allied health professions are highly desirable.
These roles are located in WAVES (Work-related Violence and Aggression Employee Supports) branch within the Employee Safety and Wellbeing Division (ESWD).
The WAVES Training team will deliver skills and capability building services for school-based staff in preventing and responding to work-related aggression and violence through training and coaching.
