About the role:
Western Health are seeking experienced Registered Nurses, Registered Midwives and Enrolled Nurses to join the Westwards program, a flexible workforce initiative that supports services across Western Health campuses and rural and regional partner health services.
As a Pool Nurse or Midwife employed through the Westwards program, you will work across a range of clinical settings providing workforce support where it is needed most. As part of the program, you will undertake supported secondments to partner health services and, at other times, work within Western Health’s campuses.
Westwards role offers permanent employment with flexibility, variety and the opportunity to broaden your clinical experience across metropolitan, rural and regional healthcare settings. The program is designed for clinicians who are adaptable, clinically confident and interested in developing their practice through exposure to different services, teams and patient care environments. Rural and Regional placements include accommodation support and meal allowances, where applicable.
Throughout the program, you will remain employed and supported by Western Health, one of Victoria’s largest and fastest growing health services. You will have access to career development pathways, professional support and future employment opportunities across the Western Health network.
This role is suited to nurses and midwives who are interested in building breadth in their practice, supporting services across Western Health and partner organisations, and contributing to the future delivery of healthcare across Melbourne’s West.

About you:
Demonstrated 12 months’ recent clinical experience within Australian Acute Health Care Setting.
Westwards - Perioperative Enrolled Nurse (EN)
Become a part of our devoted, multidisciplinary Perioperative team and embrace the diversity of surgical patients and their Perioperative and Peri-anaesthetic journey.
About you:
A minimum of 12 months full-time or equivalent of recent peri-operative experience in an Australian acute health care setting
Westwards - Registered Midwife (RM)
Work across Maternity Services spanning metropolitan, rural and regional settings. Strengthen continuity of care skills, support diverse birthing populations and contribute to safe, woman-centred maternity care across varying service models.
Westwards - Emergency Department, Registered Nurse (RN)
Deliver high-acuity emergency care across Western Health sites and partnering rural and regional health services, building advanced assessment skills, adaptability and confidence within fast-paced and diverse clinical environments.
About you:
A minimum of 12 months full-time or equivalent of recent Emergency Care experience in an Australian acute health care setting
Westwards - Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN)
Work across diverse Perioperative environments within metropolitan, rural and regional health services, supporting patients throughout the surgical journey. Gain exposure to a broad range of specialties while developing flexibility, technical expertise and confidence across anaesthetics, scrub/scout, recovery and day procedure settings.
About you:
A minimum of 12 months full-time or equivalent of recent peri-operative experience in an Australian acute health care setting
