About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Communications Division leads, shapes and supports communication of Victorian Government priorities for early childhood development, and school education. The Division tells these stories through media relations, internal and external communications, branding, digital channels, public affairs and event management.
The Division is split into multiple branches supported by an Executive team:
Digital and Creative Services creates and manages the content and channels that deliver the department's communication objectives. The branch provides expert advice and services related to design, brand management, written and visual content development, channel management (emails, newsletters, social media), digital solutions and governance. The branch promotes innovation and advocates for a digital-first approach to communications across the department. Social and electric direct mail (EDM) is now part of this branch.
About the Role
The primary purpose of the Visual Designer role is to provide innovative and high quality visual design solutions that support the Department's priority communication activities. It designs digital and print products for multiple audiences and channels. It also ensures design work is timely and aligned to the Department's corporate style.
The role works closely with other teams in the Communications Division, advising on production approaches and helping to implement communication plans, strategies and campaigns. The role also actively participates in a broad range of communication tasks, events and activities to support the delivery of the Division's work. Ad hoc after-hours work may be required.
