About the role
Seeking suitably qualified medical professional to support the Barwon Reproductive and Sexual Health (BRaSH) clinic in a casual capacity.
The Barwon Reproductive and Sexual Health (BRaSH) Clinics are located at University Hospital Geelong (UHG) and Barwon Health North (BHN). The clinics are staffed by doctors and nurses with expertise in sexual health.
Barwon Health offers a Reproductive and Sexual Health service for the following conditions:
- Sexually Transmitted Infections: screening, assessment, testing and treatment
- Pre Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention
- Contraception advice, provision and referral
- Education and advice around safer sex practices, sexuality, and sexual dysfunction
- HIV Care and Treatment: The BRaSH Clinic at UHG is staffed by infectious disease specialists, a pharmacist, psychiatrist and an outreach worker who provide multidisciplinary clinical treatment and psychosocial support for people living with HIV.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality outpatient sexual and reproductive health services across Barwon Health sites, ensuring compassionate, respectful, and patient-centred care at all times.
- Provide clear clinical communication and informed consent processes, maintaining accurate medical records and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external healthcare providers.
- Contribute to clinical excellence through development of practice standards, adherence to credentialing requirements, infectious disease management guidelines, and evidence-based care.
- Participate in research, service evaluation, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
- Comply with Barwon Health policies, safety and regulatory standards, including Child Safe Standards, mandatory training, incident reporting, and equal opportunity principles.
What we’re looking for
- Medical degree with registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria, and relevant specialist qualifications including RACGP and/or RACP Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine Fellowship.
- Demonstrated experience in sexual and reproductive health medicine, including assessment and management of sexually transmitted infections and related conditions.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to teaching and education.
- Proven ability to manage a fast-paced clinical workload with adaptability, flexibility, professionalism, and sensitivity in working with diverse patients and colleagues.
