CFA is an emergency service that places the community at the centre of everything we do. We work to protect lives and property across Victoria, every hour of the day.
Our organisation is made up of employees working alongside more than 51,000 volunteers. We value the different skills, experience and viewpoints that people bring, because they strengthen how we operate and support the services Victorians rely on.
We aim to be a workplace where people feel supported to do meaningful work, develop professionally and contribute to outcomes that matter to the people and places we serve.

About the Role
The Vegetation Management Program plays a key role in reducing the risk and severity of bushfires through supporting CFA's vegetation management and planned burning activities. The program focuses on fuel management and building the capability of staff and volunteers to understand the use of fire in prevention, fire behaviour, and safe, effective suppression.
In this ongoing role based in Bendigo, you will act as a central coordination point between CFA and Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic), receiving formal requests for resources and matching burn locations, timing and tasking with appropriately skilled staff and volunteers. CFA members conduct planned burns on private land and roadsides and support FFMVic in planned burning on public land, with joint burns providing important opportunities to build capability and workforce capacity.
The VMSO works closely with the District Vegetation Management Officer (VMO) to gather information required for burn plan preparation and to support regional service delivery. From time to time, the role will also assist with VMO-related duties as required, contributing to effective, safe and well-coordinated vegetation management outcomes across the district.
This position does involve travel across the Northwest region and the successful candidate will have access to a CFA pool car for this purpose.
