As a Transport Technical Officer, you will play a key role in supporting and delivering speed zone projects in accordance with the Department of Transport and Planning’s Speed Zoning Policy and Technical Guidelines. Your responsibilities include conducting speed zoning reviews, preparing signing schemes, and applying a risk-based approach—such as the Infrastructure Risk Rating (IRR)—to assess road conditions, traffic volumes, and potential hazards. You will support local government authorities (LGAs) in reviewing and managing speed limits across local road networks, particularly in areas experiencing urban development, increased pedestrian or cyclist activity, or shifts in traffic patterns. Your work will ensure that any speed limit changes align with road safety principles, community needs, and traffic efficiency goals. Additionally, you will be involved in procurement, project delivery, progress reporting, and stakeholder engagement to facilitate systematic, data-driven improvements. This role offers the opportunity to enhance transport safety outcomes through informed, collaborative, and proactive decision-making.
