About the role
Applicants who have applied for this role within the past six months need not reapply. As the Traffic Control Officer, you’ll support the safe and efficient movement of people and goods across Victoria’s road network. This position provides professional, independent judgement in monitoring and operating the Department’s advanced Traffic Management systems, including investigating traffic alarms and public reports.
Working as part of the Traffic Operations Centre, you will use real-time traffic control systems and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, including emergency services, public transport operators, maintenance contractors and the broader traffic management industry, to identify, triage and coordinate effective responses to incidents and disruptions. These may include road crashes, infrastructure issues, or major network events.
This role also supports Victoria’s Big Build projects, road maintenance, and emergency management operations in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You’ll use state-of-the-art systems to make informed decisions that keep the network moving and the public informed.
