A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior professional with deep knowledge of defence industry supply chains, procurement processes, and key players, together with a detailed understanding of the global business environment (in particular as it relates to the US and Victoria, Australia), to join the Victorian Government Trade & Investment (VGTI) network.
Reporting to the Commissioner to the Americas, this position requires a commercially focused, outcomes-driven individual to work to identify and support high-performing Victorian defence exporters, facilitate their access to the US and allied supply chains, and build strategic relationships with major US defence primes, procurement bodies, and sector intermediaries.
A strong understanding of U.S. defence procurement processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to represent the Victorian Government in high-level settings are essential.
Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will possess:
• Extensive background in investment promotion, business development, lead generation initiatives.
• Demonstrated understanding of Victoria's priority sectors, particularly the defence, technology and advanced manufacturing sectors, including working knowledge of US Trade Regulations and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
• Proven experience in commercial engagement and business development within the defence or advanced manufacturing sectors, including a strong understanding of supply chain dynamics, procurement processes, and the ability to leverage industry networks to support trade outcomes and market access for exporters.
The successful candidate for this locally engaged position will be responsible for all costs and arrangements in relation to relocation (if applicable), their visa, accommodation and day-to-day living expenses.
