Technical Officer (Fish Production and Stocking – Snobs Creek)
- Salary: $81,496 - $98,955 (Plus Superannuation)
- Fixed term role: 24 months

The Role
The role of the Technical Officer (Fish Production and stocking) provides technical, administrative, and operational support to the department's recreational fish production and stocking program.
Main accountabilities:
- In accordance with Safe Work Procedures (SWP's), lead and undertake a range of fish production activities including fish husbandry, stocking operations, and stakeholder engagement, as outlined in daily and seasonal operational plans.
- Assist in delivering annual fish production and stocking objectives by leading fish stocking operations across Victoria.
- Collect, collate and analyse operational data, preparing reports and presenting findings and recommendations to staff and management to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and provide feedback on all aspects of fish production and fish movement, including animal welfare, environmental conditions, fish health, disease monitoring, and the performance of plant, machinery and equipment.

The position of Technical Officer forms a part of the Fisheries Management and Boating branch within the Victorian Fisheries Authority.

About You
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Sector Experience: Demonstrated expertise and/or experience of working within the agriculture or aquaculture sector. Knowledge of the day to day running of a fish farm or other farm including feeding, grading, breeding, fish health, fish stocking and general husbandry of livestock/fish. Understand logistical processes and challenges for transporting and stocking live fish into public waters.
- Technical Skills: Experience in data analytics; Detail focused and identifies gaps in information; Looks for logical sequences of information and can accurately present data to staff, stakeholders, and management.
- Communication Skills: Well-developed written and verbal communication to convey ideas and information in a concise format; Understands the target audience and the objectives of the communication; Confidently conveys ideas and information in a clear and interesting way.
