The Geological Survey of Victoria is looking for a hands-on, detail orientated team member to support the maintenance and management of Victoria’s most valuable geological core samples. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique facility supporting geological exploration and research.
As the Technical Officer, you will be responsible for assisting the Lead Technical Officer with the day-to-day activities of the State’s own Drill Core Library. This is a highly variable role where no two days will look the same. Duties will include the operation and maintenance of plant and equipment, creating and upholding health and safety procedures, facilitating both government and industry clients, acquiring and disposing of geological drill core samples, and managing the storage of drill core and associated data.
Your eye for detail and aptitude for physically demanding work will drive your success. Passion for geology is a bonus! As you will be working within a small team, flexibility, time-management and communication skills will be at your core. You will have an adequate comprehension of technology, including demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office and hold a current forklift licence (LF and LO) or have a willingness to obtain one.
This position would be ideal for students wanting industry experience or someone with warehouse experience wanting to branch into a specialised area.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Werribee with hybrid work arrangements available.
