About the Role
The Team Leader Workplace Operations and Leasing is responsible for the management of DTP operational properties across the state of Victoria. Whilst leading a small team the role continually reviews and monitors the DTP operational assets and supporting systems and processes. By proactively leading the application of asset management principles to ensure that the portfolio is operating efficiently. The role is required to understand business context, coordinating and guiding a team to apply operational plans that contribute to strategic business aims and property management.
Position Accountabilities
The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a capable and forward-looking Team Leader to oversee Workplace Operations and Leasing and support the delivery of well-managed, safe and effective workplaces across the organisation. This role provides an opportunity to lead a dedicated team, guide strategic property decisions and contribute to the optimisation of DTP’s workplace portfolio.
As the Team Leader, you will provide day-to-day leadership, direction and professional support to the Workplace Operations and Leasing team, fostering a cohesive, customer-focused and high-performing environment. You will interpret and apply asset management principles, property frameworks, and relevant legislation to ensure DTP’s workplace operations meet organisational needs, comply with required standards and align with strategic priorities. Your role includes offering expert advice on complex facilities and property issues, ensuring decisions are backed by clear analysis, strong risk awareness and practical operational insight.
You will play a significant role in shaping strategic business and property management activities by contributing to planning processes, identifying emerging priorities and supporting the development of initiatives that enhance workplace performance. This includes preparing high-quality briefs and documentation on complex matters, outlining options and recommendations that inform organisational decision-making and long-term planning.
Success in this role requires the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with peer and senior stakeholders across the Department, external partners and service providers. You will navigate a dynamic environment with sound judgement, strong communication skills and an ability to manage diverse expectations and priorities.

You will excel by leading the team effectively, anticipating issues, and delivering practical, high-quality solutions that enhance workplace performance and support DTP’s broader strategic priorities.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
– Tertiary qualifications in a related field and/or significant experience in a similar role (mandatory)
Desirable
– Experience leading property, facilities or workplace management teams in a government context.
