About the Business Unit:
The Department of Justice and Community Safety has established a new business unit, Liquor Control Victoria, to support the independent Victorian Liquor Commission which was created on 1 July 2022. Liquor Control Victoria supports the independent Commission by providing strategic, operational, and administrative support and by performing various regulatory functions under delegation.
The Victorian Liquor Commission, supported by Liquor Control Victoria, is responsible for issuing liquor licences and overseeing industry compliance and enforcement to ensure that Victorians and visitors to the state enjoy safe and responsible liquor licensed environments.
This is an exciting time to join Liquor Control Victoria and to be part of something new and growing. We are strengthening our focus on harm minimisation and assessment of community impacts as part of our regulatory approach following major reforms to liquor licencing laws that commenced in 2022.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Compliance (Metro) this role is primarily responsible for supervising a team of Inspectors carrying out inspections, investigations, and enforcement functions. These functions include attendance at venues for compliance inspections, surveillance and compiling reports and other documents for the purposes of prosecution or disciplinary action. When required, the Team Leader will directly undertake some compliance functions, such as investigation and enforcement activity in more complex or sensitive cases.
The role requires the flexibility to work afternoon, evening and weekend shifts and may require some overnight travel to regional Victoria.
