About the role:
Western Health is seeking a capable, detail-focused and people-oriented leader to join our Medical Workforce Unit (MWU) as Team Leader - Junior Medical Staff (JMS).
This is a hands-on frontline leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving operational challenges and takes pride in delivering reliable medical resources that directly support patient care.
As the Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and delivery of safe, accurate and timely rostering and operational workflows for our Junior Medical Staff across all Units at Western Health.
The role is embedded within the JMS team and combines hands-on operational work with team leadership. You will hold direct accountability for rosters being completed and maintained, daily sick leave and vacancy replacement, accurate timesheets and payroll inputs and effective team support.
You will be the first point of escalation for JMS Coordinators and the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including clinical units, after-hours services and Payroll.

About the Medical Workforce Unit (MWU)
The MWU is a dynamic and high-impact team that supports more than 2,000 medical staff across Western Health. We provide strategic direction and hands-on operational leadership in all aspects of medical workforce management, including recruitment, credentialing, contracting, rostering, onboarding, workforce planning, leave management, timesheets and payroll support.
We work closely with hospital leadership, clinical departments and external partners to ensure our hospitals are safely staffed and able to deliver world-class care to the communities of Melbourne’s West.
As Western Health continues to expand, including the opening of the new Footscray Hospital, this is an exciting time to shape the future of medical workforce services.
