About the business unit
People, Safety, Culture and Communications (PSCC) provides services and advice to the department on a wide range of human resources (HR), transformation, occupational health and safety, industrial relations, and workforce planning matters. This includes HR policy and strategy; organisational culture and change; recruitment and retention; performance and development; pay, benefits and workforce reporting; occupational health and safety management; employment regulations; and public service medal nominations.
About the role
The Team Leader, HR Assist is responsible for overseeing and supervising the small HR Assist team - the dedicated first point of contact for HR queries across the department.
Some of your duties will include:
Supervise the HR Assist team, the first point of contact centralised HR telephone and email information service (HR Assist) to the department.
Manage and coach a small team of support officers to answer generalist HR queries including payroll, recruitment, learning and development, performance, health, safety and wellbeing, workplace relations, leave and other entitlements.
Ensure the timely response to queries from managers and employees relating to HR policies and processes within established and agreed timeframes.
Develop and implement processes that triage transactional HR queries to the appropriate specialist areas within PSCC and provide an escalation point for queries of a more complex nature.

A qualification in human resources, business administration or a related field is desirable.
