The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking to fill a Team Leader, Compliance and Enforcement position to provide a critical role in support of Tobacco Licensing Victoria.
About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) provides a range of government programs and services focused on improving community safety, victim services, regulatory services and crime prevention, and building strong collaboration across the justice system.
Tobacco Licensing Victoria (TLV) is a business unit of the department. Located in the Integrity Regulation and Legal Services (IRLS) Group. Under the Tobacco Act 1987, TLV administers the tobacco business licensing scheme, regulating the retail and wholesale supply of tobacco.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Compliance and Enforcement, the role is primarily responsible for supervising a team of staff carrying out inspections, investigations and/or enforcement functions. These functions include:
The Team Leader will also directly undertake some compliance functions such as, inspections, investigations and enforcement activity in more complex or sensitive cases.
The role requires flexibility to work in the field and perform duties outside of normal business hours, including evening and weekend shifts and overnight travel to regional Victoria when operationally required at different times throughout the year.
