Wilmot Road Primary School is a welcoming, diverse and ambitious school community in Shepparton, Victoria. We currently have approximately 240 students from Foundation to Year 6 and are proud of the cultural, linguistic and social diversity that shapes our school.
Approximately 54% of our students speak English as an additional language or dialect, and around 12% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Many of our families are refugees, new arrivals to Australia or experience significant socio-economic disadvantage. Our school plays an important role within the local community, providing not only high-quality education, but also connection, advocacy and access to services for children and families.

Teaching and learningAt Wilmot Road, we have high expectations for every student and are continuing to strengthen a consistent, evidence-informed approach to teaching and learning.
Our instructional practice is aligned with the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0, with a strong focus on explicit teaching, responsive intervention and building students' knowledge and vocabulary.
We are developing a knowledge-rich curriculum that makes learning meaningful, connected and engaging. English and Mathematics remain at the centre of our work, while our broader curriculum provides students with opportunities to explore science, geography, health, culture, community and the wider world.
Our curriculum deliberately includes First Nations perspectives and voices, alongside texts and resources that reflect the cultural diversity, abilities and experiences of our students and the broader Australian community.
We want learning to extend beyond the classroom. Students have opportunities to learn through practical and authentic experiences including Bike Education, sport, technology, 3D printing, Minecraft Education, woodworking, incursions, excursions and community partnerships.

Our classrooms are supported by Education Support staff, and we work closely with external agencies and community organisations to reduce barriers to learning. Each classroom has a dedicated ES staff member.
Our onsite Wilmot Road Family and Community Centre further strengthens connections with families through programs such as English language classes, playgroup, citizenship support and community services.
We also share our site with an Early Learning Victoria kindergarten, creating opportunities to strengthen transition, community connection and learning across the early years.
