About the role
Reporting to the Taskforce Lead, the Principal Intelligence Analyst is responsible for leading the Taskforce’s delivery of intelligence analysis, deploying high-level analytic skills to identify emerging threats, opportunities, patterns and trends as well as root causes and possible approaches as they relate to intelligence.
Operating within a dynamic and often high-profile environment, the role requires sound judgement, strong intelligence capability, and the ability to manage competing priorities. The Principal Intelligence Analyst leads matters culminating in compliance and enforcement interventions, using a range of risk-based compliance and enforcement tools and approaches. The Principal Intelligence Analyst also provides guidance and support to team members, contributing to a consistent and high-quality approach to regulatory delivery, and expertise to less experienced colleagues.
Key Accountabilities include
· Plan and deliver data and information analysis to produce high quality tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence products to inform compliance decision making, and operational policy and planning within the Taskforce.
· Lead and manage the Taskforce’s Intelligence team and take active responsibility for staff performance and development.
· Lead environmental scanning efforts and produce complex risk-based analyses and reports on current and emerging market issues, business conduct issues, and specific compliance issues.
· Lead operational and tactical intelligence to support Taskforce initiated compliance and enforcement activities and outcomes.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
· Demonstrated ability to lead information management and intelligence analysis processes in a regulatory or similar environment, with sound understanding of intelligence collection and assessment methodologies.
· Proven capacity to evaluate complex intelligence problems from multiple perspectives, identify recurring issues and deliver tangible outcomes through effective, integrated analytical solutions.
· Proven ability to interpret complex guidelines or legislation, and develop effective solutions where none exist, applying critical thinking and informed decision-making to deliver tangible outcomes.
· Demonstrated ability to build collaborative team environments, facilitate information sharing across teams and provide support to others in challenging situations.
· Ability to communicate intelligence findings clearly and credibly across a range of audiences, navigate sensitive topics and present objective, well-reasoned assessments.
Mandatory requirements
· Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary intelligence principles and practices.
· Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience.
· Knowledge of, and or relevant experience working in a regulatory setting is highly desirable.
