Transport Services is a Group within the Department of Transport, and is responsible for delivering safe, reliable and accessible transport infrastructure and services to all Victorians.
About the role
This is an ongoing position.
Operating under limited direction, the Surveillance Lead exercises professional independent judgement to provide on-site assurance that the delivery of construction activities including service relocation, earthworks, pavements, drainage, surfacing, traffic signals and bridgeworks according to project scope, specifications and is in accordance with DoT policies and guidelines and safety requirements.
Position accountabilities
– Project assurance and monitoring: Ensure works comply with specifications, technical standards and legislation, while providing timely reporting on progress against schedule, budget and resources, and supporting the assessment of contractor claims.
– Construction, safety and risk management: Offer expert advice on construction practices, safe work execution and innovative solutions to complex site and traffic management issues, while contributing to risk-based surveillance plans and carrying out audits and inspections.
– Stakeholder and community engagement: Actively engage with key stakeholders and the community to support project delivery, maintain transparency and ensure issues are managed effectively throughout the construction lifecycle.
Key Selection Criteria Success in this role requires someone who can deliver project tasks accurately and on time, applying sound critical thinking and construction knowledge to resolve issues and maintain quality under pressure. Qualifications and experience
Mandatory
Experience in civil construction.
Desirable
A relevant certification in civil construction like Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision.
