Alexandra District Health (ADH) is the major health service in the Shire of Murrindindi, delivering inpatient, specialist, allied health, and community services. We're looking for a skilled and passionate Cook or and individual with an interest in becoming a Cook, to lead our catering team and ensure patients, staff, and contract clients receive excellent food every day.
You'll take charge of daily food service operations, supervise catering assistants, and uphold strict food safety standards — all while bringing creativity and care to menu planning in collaboration with our Dietitian and Speech Pathologist.
· Coordinate the daily tasks within catering services under the direction of the Support Services Manager
· Complies with the Standard Operating Procedures and Support Programs of the Food Safety Plan (FSP) at all times
· Ensure that all food prepared, cooked and supplied is of the highest possible standard
· Prepare, present and delivery of food in accordance with the FSP
· Accurately document food preparation, hygiene and delivery in accordance with the FSP and Alexandra District Health (ADH) Policies and Procedures
· Ensures compliance with regulations under the Food Safety Act.
· Demonstrate a sound knowledge and the application of principles and supervision of staff in line with the FSP
· Work as part of the team
· Encourage effective communication and co-operative behaviors within the team, abiding by and promoting organisational values
· Provide supervision, direction and support for the Support Services Assistants – catering
· Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of dietary requirements and participate in menu and recipe development, maintenance and implementation in liaison with the Support Services Manager, Dietitian and Speech Pathologist.
· Ensure cost effective management for the provision of catering services
· Is responsible for completing meal preparation efficiently as per schedule
· Maintain Food Safety Records including daily and monthly temperature process logs
· Ensure the correct use and storage of all chemicals and products is in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines
· Work as a member of the team
· Report and assist in the follow up of patient feedback
· Participate in the ADH Quality Improvement Program
· Assist with the orientation program for new staff
· Maintain up to date working knowledge of ADH Emergency Procedures
· Act in a professional and ethical manner at all times
· Maintain confidentiality of staff, patients and visitors
· Communicate appropriately with staff, patients, relatives and visitors
· Awareness of and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety responsibilities
· Participate in the annual performance appraisal process
· Participate in staff meetings and organisational committees as required
