The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Support Coordinator to fill a vital role within the Stolen Generations Reparations Unit.
About the Business Unit
The Aboriginal Justice Group of the Department of the department is committed to driving systemic change in the justice system, to connect, support and deliver better outcomes for the Aboriginal community. The group works in partnership with Traditional Owners and the Victorian Aboriginal community to embed the principles of self-determination in the justice sector. The Stolen Generations Reparations Unit (SGRU) was established to implement the Reparations Package to help address the trauma and suffering caused by the forced removal of Aboriginal children from their families, culture and Country. The team is committed to delivering a reparations process that is fully supported, accessible, transparent and trauma informed.
About the role:
As Support Coordinator, you will act as a central point of contact for applicants to the Stolen Generations Reparation Package in Victoria and support key activities working with Aboriginal people who have lived experience of trauma. Specifically, you will support applicants to lodge their applications and access support services, as well as provide guidance and to potential applicants and key stakeholders such as Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
