The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Supervisor – Risk Management to provide a critical role at Corrections Victoria, Security and Intelligence Division.
About the Business Unit
The Security and Intelligence Division is responsible for the acquittal of several key strategic functions within Corrections Victoria (CV) including Security Risk Management, Electronic Monitoring, Correctional Emergency Response, and Emergency Management including exercising plans and contingencies, and Intelligence.
The Security Standards Unit (SSU) is responsible for several of these strategic functions focused on Security Risk Management, Physical Security, Annual Procedural Security Reviews, Schematic Plans, and State-wide Locksmith Services and maintaining a range of policy documents. The SSU is responsible for monitoring the minimum-security requirements for all prisons and secure locations on an annual basis, as well as ensuring that the standards are reviewed regularly. The unit also provides, advice and support to CV relating to Security, Security Risk Management, Fire Response and Emerging Technology.
The Risk team is a specialist team that works across all DJCS locations performing risk and security reviews. They provide advice on emerging risks and issues, perform research activities, and support CV and other departmental business units in developing risk assessments and mitigations strategies.
About the Role
The Supervisor – Risk Management role performs risk assessments, operational security training and mentoring, barrier control operations, procedural security compliance reviews, and provides feedback on prison risk assessments against risk management standards, as well as complex DJCS policies and regulatory documentation. They also ensure that locations have the appropriate mitigation strategies in place to reduce foreseeable risks. The Supervisor – Risk Management will also undertake a wide range of project management activities and other tasks relevant to the roles and functions of the SSU.
The role is primarily based at Statewide Service Building, Western Plains Correctional Centre, although some state-wide travel and overnight stays may be required. The role may be required to work in Metropolitan Melbourne, whilst there may also be some opportunity to work from home in accordance with Victorian Public Service guidelines. The role works a static 80hr roster inclusive of weekends and public holidays.
