A strong understanding of the challenger¿s students may face with experience in working with young people and their families to address mental health issues.
Evidence of an ability to develop and implement early intervention and prevention wellbeing programs.
Highly developed communication, networking, interpersonal and teamwork skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people within the school and wider community.
Excellent organisational and administrative skills; and understanding of school systems and Wellbeing best practices.
Understand DET policies procedures regarding mandatory reporting Child Safety and information sharing.
Experience in case management systems, recording and reporting in a timely manner
Reporting to the Wellbeing Team Leader, the SWO role is 3 days per week at both East and West campus.
Ensure all activities are undertaken within the policy and procedure framework of RSC and DET including the maintenance of quality case notes and timely reporting when working with individuals and/or groups of students
Work closely with student leadership groups to help student investigate and address issues students currently facing. Organise facilitate and evaluate peer leadership and mentoring programs.
Advocate, consult with staff, family and community members to create an inclusive environment with a focus on students at risk of disengagement to school through analysis of school attendance data.
Provision of individual early intervention support for students with social concerns and emerging mental health problems, participate in student support group and care team meetings.
Refer students displaying serious mental health issues to the Mental Health Practitioner and/or appropriate external support services. This may also include supporting the creation of safety and back to school plans and/or referral documentation for external agencies.
Organise and facilitate school events that promote positive mental health such as Wear It Purple Day, school camps and student lead celebration days.
Minimum Requirements:
Degree in social sciences
Current Working with Children¿s Card
A satisfactory police criminal check
At least 2 years demonstrated relevant experience.
