The student wellbeing and first aid Education Support Role provides comprehensive first aid, student support and administrative services across the school. The role is responsible for supporting student health and wellbeing, managing first aid processes, maintaining accurate health and medical records, and supporting enrolment processes to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
The position supports the day-to-day operation of the school by providing timely assistance to students, families and staff, managing confidential information, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
Working collaboratively with school leadership, teaching staff, education support staff, students and families, the First Aid and Enrolment Officer contribute to a safe, supportive and welcoming school environment while delivering high-quality administrative and wellbeing support.
Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3. Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations.
This is the minimum range for positions that carry a mandatory qualification requirement of not less than four years. Professional student support positions become a feature at range 3 (e.g. therapists, psychologists) where standard professional services are delivered. Professional support and guidance will be close at hand and deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
Ensure the provision of a range of administrative support functions for the Principal and teaching staff.
Supporting the Wellbeing Leader for funding applications and supporting students with special needs.
Maintain wellbeing policies relating to health and medical needs.
Supporting the Emergency Management and OHS procedures in the school.
Provide administrative support to external service providers as required.
Provide required level of administrative support for school events, functions and projects.
Providing first aid support to students and staff in accordance with Department of Education policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.
Managing the sick bay/first aid area, ensuring a safe, organised and well-maintained environment.
Assessing and responding appropriately to student health concerns, injuries and medical incidents, including contacting families and emergency services when required.
Maintaining accurate and confidential student medical records, health plans, medication registers and first aid documentation.
Administering medications and supporting students with health care needs in line with approved processes and documentation.
Monitoring and maintaining first aid supplies, equipment and resources, including stock control and ordering as required.
Supporting families throughout the enrolment process in particular medical needs and developing health needs plans and communicating these with staff.
Maintaining student information systems and ensuring records are accurate, up to date and managed confidentially.
Assisting with student attendance processes, follow-up of unexplained absences and communication with families where required.
Providing administrative support for student wellbeing programs, excursions, camps and school events.
Liaising with school leadership, teachers, education support staff, families and external health professionals to support student needs.
Maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgement when handling sensitive student and family information.
Contributing to a positive, inclusive and supportive school environment through professional and respectful interactions with the school community.
Undertaking general administrative duties to support the effective operation of the school office.

The Greek Bilingual Program was established in 1977 and the Macedonian Program was established in 1984.
Lalor North Primary School is especially unique as students are enrolled in one of the three curriculum programs: The Standard Curriculum Program, The Greek Bilingual Curriculum Program or The Macedonian Bilingual Curriculum Program. Lalor North Primary School leads Victoria in Bilingual Education. Our Greek Bilingual Program has been in operation since 1977 and is the oldest continually operating bilingual program in Victoria. Our Macedonian Bilingual Program began operation in 1984 and continues to operate at its highest ever enrolment. Both of our bilingual programs enjoy tremendous support from local communities as well as being internationally recognised by the governments of Greece and Northern Macedonia respectively.
Languages are a strength for every student at Lalor North Primary School. We have approximately 65% of our students with a language background other than English and there is a sense of pride in the linguistic, cultural and social diversity of our community. The learning programs are carefully built on this rich heritage and identity. Our students speak many languages other than English which include Mandarin, Khmer, Gujarati, Chinese, Dinka, Macedonian, Greek, Arabic, Punjabi, Vietnamese, Somali, Persian, Samoan, Albanian, Hindi, Nepali, Turkish, Urdu, Tongan, Tagalog, Afrikaans, Maori, Cantonese and others. A key feature of our school is our highly experienced, dedicated, passionate and stable staffing profile. The school employs 45 staff members in 2024, made up of three Office staff, Principal, two Assistant Principals, two Learning Specialists, two Leading Teacher, 28 teachers, 10 Education Support Staff. In 2025 there were 18 classes, including 7 Standard Program classes, 7 classes in the Macedonian Bilingual Curriculum Program and 4 classes in our Greek Bilingual Curriculum Program.
