About the Role
The purpose of the Student Support Services team is to assist children and young people facing a range of barriers to learning, and achieve their educational and developmental potential. We do this through the provision of a range of strategies and specialised support with individual, group, school and teams within the Department Area. Student Support Services staff work collaboratively with schools, students and parents to facilitate improved emotional health and wellbeing for students.
Student Support Services staff are well placed to:
-Build the capability of teachers to deal with issues commonly exhibited by vulnerable students.
-Provide effective guidance, advice and support to principals to manage and deliver wellbeing strategies.
-Balance the delivery of assessments, interventions and building capability to manage complex cases.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary Area-based team working in partnership with individuals, groups and communities to help students reach their full potential. The multidisciplinary Area-based teams consist of a broad range of allied health professionals including psychologists, speech pathologists, social workers and visiting teachers.
Key qualities are we looking for:
Expert advice: You will be required to provide collaborative advice that will influence the development of teaching and learning strategies and student wellbeing programs for school leadership teams to embed in their practices.
Leadership: You will be required to provide leadership to the SSS team, by managing service delivery within a multidisciplinary Area-based team and contributing to professional supervision and direction to other members of the team.
Communication: We are looking for highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills as liaison with a range of people in the education community and beyond is a regular activity.
Flexibility: The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and the capability to work autonomously when required Collaborative approach: The ability to provide work collaboratively with other allied health professionals within a multidisciplinary team, and work with schools, to identify, develop and coordinate strategies aimed at quality universal services for all students and support schools in addressing wellbeing issues early.
Required: A graduate or post-graduate qualification in an allied health field and eligibility for registration with the associated professional organisation For more details see the position description.
