About the role
This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 June 2026
The Structures Delivery Lead is responsible for planning, delivering and monitoring road and bridge works using independent professional judgement to meet scope, safety, quality and environmental requirements. The role combines technical expertise, risk management and stakeholder collaboration to support successful project outcomes within the Department of Transport and Planning.

Position accountabilities
The role involves exercising independent professional judgement to plan, deliver and monitor road and bridge projects, ensuring they meet scope, quality, cost, safety and environmental requirements. It requires strong technical capability in design, construction and maintenance, along with the ability to assess risks, administer contracts, and analyse project performance to improve outcomes. Success also relies on building effective relationships with internal teams, councils and stakeholders while proactively addressing emerging issues.
– Exercise independent professional judgement to plan, procure, implement and monitor road and bridge works to achieve project scope, quality, cost, time, safety and environmental requirements in accordance with relevant policies and toolkits.
– Undertake research and analysis to prepare, monitor and report on the physical and financial status of projects, and develop innovative responses to improve project outcomes and project processes
– Establish and maintain good working relationships with DTP internal teams, Councils, other government departments, and stakeholders, including alerting management on emerging issues.
Qualifications and experience
Mandatory
– Engineering, project management, or similar, tertiary qualification
– Driver’s License (without any restriction which preclude the incumbent from performing the inherent requirements of the position and which cannot be reasonably accommodated by the Department)
Desirable
– 5+ years of construction and/or project management experience
– Experience in liaising with contractors/clients
