About the Role:
The Strategic Research Advisor leads and manages end‑to‑end applied research that supports the Building and Plumbing Commission's (BPC) harms‑based, evidence‑led Research Program and regulatory approach. The role leads the delivery of research projects aligned to regulatory priorities by scoping research, overseeing delivery, translating findings into practical regulatory insights, and planning for and actioning research impacts.
The position is accountable for research‑related procurement and contract management, including commissioning external research, managing funding and contractual arrangements, and ensuring quality, integrity, risk management and value for money. The role may also lead and undertake research and analysis for internally managed projects where required. Critically, the role supports increasing the reach and impact of the BPC's Research Program through careful and methodical planning, stakeholder engagement and persuasive negotiations.
Operating with a high level of professional judgement and autonomy, the Strategic Research Advisor provides authoritative advice to senior leaders, leads engagement with academic, industry and government stakeholders, and ensures research insights are effectively integrated into policy, operational practice and system‑wide regulatory interventions to improve regulatory effectiveness and consumer outcomes.
