The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Strategic Advisor to provide high-level strategic advice and executive support to the Chief Operating Officer, helping drive key priorities and organisational outcomes.
About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) provides a range of government programs and services which focus on improving community safety, victim services, regulatory services and crime prevention, and building strong collaboration across the justice system.
DJCS oversees functions including Aboriginal Justice, Community Safety, Victim Support, Justice Services and Regulation, Justice System Coordination and Reform, Corrections, Youth Justice, Emergency Management, Racing and Corporate Services.
DJCS is responsible to the ministers for the following portfolios:
The Corporate Strategy and Delivery Group is an enabling function delivering Finance, People Safety and Culture, Strategic Communication, Infrastructure, Data, Performance and Governance, and Enterprise Technology Solutions to support the Department. The group provides strategic and operational support, delivers essential corporate services and leads continuous improvement and performance oversight of corporate functions.
About the Role
The Strategic Advisor is responsible for the provision of high-level support and advice to the Chief Operating Officer on issues pertaining to Corporate Strategy and Delivery (CSD) and the Department of Justice and Community Safety, particularly within its social, political and legal context.
Whilst maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of current internal and external issues and risks, the Strategic Advisor is responsible for making recommendations and determining solutions that provide options for decision making for the Chief Operating Officer.
The role operates within a complex and sensitive environment that requires a capacity to exercise sound judgement, effectively liaise with key stakeholders and undertake effective, timely actions.
