About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.
Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is the first level of the Victorian court system and is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 locations, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the Role
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is seeking a highly respected court operations leader to step into the pivotal role of Statewide Listings and Allocations Coordinator. This role sits at the centre of statewide planning and decision‑making, influencing how resources are deployed and how cases move efficiently through every Magistrates' Court location across Victoria. Working at the intersection of judicial leadership, executive management and frontline operations, this role offers a rare opportunity to apply deep court expertise at a strategic, system‑wide level.
The Statewide Listings and Allocations Coordinator plays a critical leadership role in supporting the Executive Directors for Court Operations (Metropolitan, Regional and the Melbourne Magistrates' Court) in the effective management of statewide listings and allocation functions across the Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV).
Working in close partnership with the Chief Magistrate's Chambers, the Deputy Chief Magistrate (Operations), Executive Directors and Senior Registrars, this role contributes to the strategic planning, management and direction of court operations. Through strong leadership, strategic insight and high‑level stakeholder engagement, the role ensures optimal court performance and the effective utilisation of judicial and operational resources.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Court Operations (Metropolitan, Regional and the Melbourne Magistrates' Court), the position holds overarching responsibility for providing authoritative and well‑researched strategic advice on listings and allocations across the state. In collaboration with the General Manager, Performance and Reporting, the role delivers sound, evidence‑based recommendations to enhance court operations and support the effective management of cases at Magistrates' Court locations statewide.
The Statewide Listings and Allocations Coordinator provides leadership and expert guidance to teams responsible for daily statewide listings, allocations and coordination. This includes setting best practice standards, delivering training, and supporting consistent and effective listing practices across the Court.
The role works closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders—including the Judiciary, court staff, Victoria Police, Victoria Legal Aid, Court Services Victoria and Corrections Victoria —to proactively identify, prioritise and manage issues. Through collaborative problem‑solving and strong relationships, the role supports effective risk management and ensures the Magistrates' Court is equipped to operate at full capacity.
