The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking 4 x State Training Instructors to provide a critical role within Security and Emergency Services Group.
About the Business Unit
The Security and Emergency Services Group (SESG) provides security services and incident and emergency response to the correctional system. SESG is responsible for providing immediate and longer-term support through its diverse portfolios, such as emergency and incident response, High Security Escort of prisoners, state-wide training services, barrier control, search and K9 services and management of firearms.
About the Role
The State Training Instructor is responsible for the coordination, development, and delivery of training to custodial officers across the correctional system, including within the SESG. The State Training Instructor requires strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of modern adult learning principles. The State Training Instructor is a subject matter expert in training packages, assessment packages, and emergency procedures, and ensures best-practice delivery of training.
The role requires strong communication skills, leadership, maturity, sound judgement, and confidence in decision making, with developed capabilities to coach, mentor, and motivate staff.
