Please note: This position is NOT under the VPS Enterprise Agreement. The successful candidate will be appointed under the Electoral Act 2002 for state elections and under the Local Government (Electoral) Regulations 2020 for council elections. The pay and conditions for this role, are set out under the VEC's Election Staff Remuneration and Allowance Framework.
Interviews will be conducted the week commencing 14 September, with training for successful candidates undertaken in late September / October 2026.
What you will be doing
You will help build and support the workforce that delivers election operations across one or more electoral districts. Working as part of a hub staffing team, you will support the recruitment, appointment and rostering of election staff and help ensure election activities are appropriately staffed.
You do not need previous election experience. We will train you on electoral processes and systems. We are looking for someone who is organised, enjoys working with people and can keep track of multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Day to day, you will:
During a state election, priorities can change quickly. As part of a small staffing team, you will help respond to operational demands and support the delivery of a large and diverse election workforce.
This role involves working with computers for extended periods, moving election materials and equipment, and working extended or irregular hours during peak election periods.
