Please note: This position is NOT under the VPS Enterprise Agreement. The successful candidate will be appointed under the Electoral Act 2002 for state elections and under the Local Government (Electoral) Regulations 2020 for council elections. The pay and conditions for this role, are set out under the VEC's Election Staff Remuneration and Allowance Framework.
Phone and / or online interviews will be completed from 7 September onwards, with training for successful candidates undertaken in late September / October 2026.
What you will be doing
You will lead the staffing function for a hub supporting one or more electoral districts. Hubs are central field-based sites that coordinate staffing, logistics, resources and operational support during an election. The Staffing Lead plays a critical role in ensuring election activities are appropriately staffed and ready to operate.
You do not need previous election experience. We will train you on electoral processes and systems. We are looking for someone who can lead a team, manage competing priorities and coordinate staffing activities in a fast-paced operational environment.
Day to day, you will:
During a state election, workforce requirements change quickly. You will play a key role in building and supporting a large election workforce, helping ensure voting centres, early voting centres and election activities are staffed and ready to deliver for Victorian voters.
What you will bring to the role
No two days are the same. As a member of the hub management team, you will help solve workforce challenges, support operational delivery and ensure election activities have the people they need to succeed.
This role involves working with computers for extended periods, moving between different areas of a hub environment, and working extended or irregular hours during peak election period
