About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Speech Pathologist to join the Inner Gippsland Student Support Services (SSS) team. SSS Speech Pathologists assess and develop strategies to address communication and educational needs of children and young people within an educational context.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Group
Schools and Regional Services (SRS) offers central, regional, and local expertise to enhance learning and development outcomes, supported by a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce. It comprises 17 areas within 4 regions, backed by 5 central office divisions, all collaborating to deliver improved outcomes for early childhood services, schools, communities, and learners, in line with Education State commitments. SRS regions serve as a bridge between the central office, schools, and service providers, ensuring smooth transitions for learners and achieving the department's ambitious targets. Each region includes divisions specialising in school performance, student wellbeing and early childhood support, working with area-based teams to tailor local interventions and practices. The 17 areas provide crucial insights into local trends and issues, facilitating effective policy and program development and driving child and learner outcomes across all services and programs.
This role is located in the Student Support Services Branch, Inner Gippsland Area, South Eastern Victoria Region, SRS. The Student Support Services Branch is a multi-disiplanary team responsible for a range of health and wellbeing services. The role reports to the Student Support Services Branch Manager.
Attributes
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, SSS Speech Pathologists provide comprehensive speech pathology services to schools to support student engagement and learning and provide high-level professional advice to principals and school networks that strongly influence language and literacy practice in local area schools. This can encompass a broad range of areas including articulation disorders, language disorders, learning and literacy difficulties, behavioural issues, disabilities, mental health and school transitions.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant will possess a graduate or post-graduate qualification in Speech Pathology, be eligible for membership of the Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) and possess a current Australian Drivers' Licence and Working with Children Check.

The Inner Gippsland SSS team is made up of Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Social Workers Administration Support, Team Leader and Branch Manager. SSS work collabora tively with schools and an Area Health Wellbeing and Inclusion Workforce (HWIW) to support student emotional health and wellbeing.
As a member of this team, you will have access to a car to travel to various school locations (subject to availability), a laptop, an iPhone as well as access to an extensive assessment and resource library.
