This position is for a Sports Coordinator. The role is for 5 days a week, hours are 8.00 am until 4.06 pm.
Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employees position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Sports Coordination
Specific Requirements of the Position:
Coordinate the planning and operation of the College Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics Sports Carnivals. Manage the participation of students who progress to subsequent levels of competition.
Coordinate the sporting calendar and liaise with staff to ensure all teams have a coach.
Work collaboratively with the KLA Leader ¿ Health/PE to ensure best outcomes for students.
Have responsibility for staffing of sporting programs in consultation with Assistant Principals and Daily Organiser.
Coordinate all sporting dates with the Daily Organiser to ensure all classes are covered.
Ensure all sporting dates are published on the school calendar and promoted amongst the staff and school community.
Manage the sports budget to ensure an effective and accountable program.
Support the work of the Learning Hubs to encourage full participation in sports carnivals and minimise absences.
Coordinate student meetings regarding events and permission forms.
Maintain all sporting equipment and perform regular stocktakes.
Provide and coordinate results and awards with the Assembly of Achievement coordinator.
Publicise results in the newsletter or in local media depending on the level of results.
Ensure all students involved in sporting events comply with the College Uniform Policy.
Actively support and implement all DE directives and College policies as determined by College Council.
First Aid Officer on duty when first aid required.
Learning Support Assistant duties when required.
Support PE/Health/Outdoor Education classes when available.
School Sports Victoria (SSV) Coordinator
Oversee interschool sport programs and pathways
Coordinating East Gippsland Division events including on the day organisation
Event planning ¿ including but not limited to booking venues and equipment and hiring officials
Region events ¿ provide support as directed by regional coordinator
Organise school level teams for district, division and region competitions
Acting as the secondary school liaison between the school, district/division coordinators, and the Region School Sport Victoria Coordinator.
Managing SSV division calendar
Compliance with SSV rules and policies
Camp & Excursions
Attend and assist with Outdoor Education trips including overnight trips.
Attend and assist with Interschool sporting competitions.
Attend and assist camps and excursions.
