Inglewood is forty-five kilometres north-west of Bendigo and the Inglewood Primary School is situated within the historic township area. The original school was built in 1870 and was both a primary and secondary school until 1982, when it reverted to being a primary school.
Our School Values are `Be Kind, Work Hard and Grow Together¿. These values frame the expectations of students, staff and the parent community at Inglewood Primary School.
Inglewood Primary School provides a range of structured learning opportunities that meets the needs for a student population with a range of abilities. The school is in the Loddon Shire and reflects a medium/low socio-economic profile. School fees are minimal and through Equity Funding and funds raised by Parents & Friends, the school subsidises the cost of camps, excursions and extra-curricular activities so they are affordable for all families. Parents enthusiastically support school programs and fund-raising activities.
Inglewood Primary School offers a broad curriculum for its students with an explicit focus on Literacy and Numeracy. It is the school's goal to have every child achieve their potential through the provision of high-quality teaching practices. Evidence of this is the refining of instructional teaching models for reading, writing and mathematics. Consistent Instructional Models apply across the school and provide a clear framework for high level pedagogical practice in every classroom. The vision for Inglewood Primary School is that every child should leave the school with self-confidence and an appreciation that learning takes effort and that community involvement is important. The school achieves this by providing a differentiated curriculum for all ability levels and learning styles, with the main focus being on ensuring their students are being fully engaged, feeling safe and supported and achieving their best possible learning outcomes.
Inglewood Primary School knows that to achieve success for their students, we must ensure that wellbeing is equally prioritised. Wellbeing is linked to improved academic achievement, enhanced mental health and responsible life choices. While the school runs curriculum programs to support wellbeing, they also employ a wellbeing leader and a wellbeing worker. Inglewood Primary School have three key values that guide the choices students make and the actions they take. The school values were chosen by the students and reflect their wording, design and meaning.
We continue to implement our 2024-2027 School Strategic Plan, with a focus on literacy, numeracy, student wellbeing, voice and agency. The school is organized into three home group classes; a Prep/1, a Grade 2/3 and a Grade 4/5/6. School staff includes a Principal, four classroom teachers, three ES staff and a part-time office manager (0.4 EFT). The school is visited fortnightly by the MARC Van and we have a student wellbeing worker two days/week, funded through the National Schools Chaplaincy Program.
The school has an active garden to kitchen program, which gives the children the opportunity to cultivate, harvest, prepare and enjoy eating healthy produce on a regular basis. The school also runs weekly, Art, Music, Auslan, STEM, Integrated, Health and PE and Digital Technology sessions
The school plans extra curricula activities regularly, such as the swimming program, Sporting Schools program, gymnastics program, school camps, excursions and family involvement days. In addition, our Year 5-6 students make fortnightly visits to the local Inglewood Health hostel to interact with the community¿s senior residents.
We have a happy and safe school environment that fosters confidence, a sense of connectedness and supports all learners to perform at their best.
