About this Opportunity
The Specialist, Spatial Planning – Digital Build will lead the governance, implementation and continuous improvement of VIDA Health’s enterprise digital spatial planning capability, including dRofus and associated BIM and digital engineering platforms.
Working across VIDA Health, health services, consultants, contractors and technology partners, this role will act as the organisation’s subject matter expert for digital spatial planning data, room and equipment scheduling, briefing information management and health facility benchmarking.
This is a key specialist role supporting the establishment of a statewide spatial planning data environment that enables consistent project information, evidence-based decision making, portfolio benchmarking, digital handover and future digital twin capability.
The role will provide authoritative technical advice, lead standards and assurance activities, support consultant onboarding and build organisational capability in the use of spatial planning systems and processes across VIDA Health’s capital project portfolio.
About You
A highly capable spatial planning and digital information management specialist with strong experience supporting the planning and delivery of major health infrastructure projects. Brings deep knowledge of functional briefing, room data management, healthcare planning processes and the use of dRofus or equivalent platforms within BIM and digital engineering environments.
Combines technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement skills, confidently working with project teams, health services, consultants, contractors and senior stakeholders to improve data quality, planning consistency and project outcomes. Comfortable translating complex technical information into clear guidance, establishing fit-for-purpose governance, and supporting the adoption of new systems and ways of working.
You’ll bring:
- Demonstrated experience in health infrastructure planning, including functional briefing, spatial planning, room data management and healthcare planning processes.
- Extensive experience implementing and applying dRofus or equivalent briefing and spatial planning platforms, including integration with BIM and digital engineering workflows.
- Strong capability in establishing standards, governance frameworks and quality assurance processes for spatial planning information, project data and digital deliverables.
- Proven ability to provide authoritative specialist advice, influence diverse stakeholders and resolve complex planning and information management issues.
- Experience using project and portfolio data to support benchmarking, reporting, standardisation and evidence-based decision making.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to support system adoption, capability uplift and more consistent digital ways of working across a complex project environment.
Key Selection Criteria
- Spatial Planning and Health Infrastructure Expertise: Demonstrated experience delivering health infrastructure projects, with strong knowledge of functional briefing, spatial planning, room data management and healthcare planning processes.
- dRofus and Digital Information Management: Extensive experience implementing and applying dRofus or equivalent briefing and spatial planning platforms, including integration with BIM and digital engineering workflows.
- Governance, Assurance and Quality Management: Demonstrated experience establishing standards, governance frameworks and quality assurance processes for spatial planning information, project data and digital deliverables.
- Advisory and Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrated ability to lead stakeholder engagement, provide authoritative specialist advice and influence project teams, consultants, contractors and senior/executive stakeholders to drive alignment, resolve complex planning and information management issues, and support consistent, high-quality project outcomes.
- Data Analytics and Benchmarking: Experience analysing project and portfolio datasets to support benchmarking, performance reporting, planning consistency and evidence-based decision making.
- Change Management and Capability Development: Demonstrated experience supporting organisational adoption of new systems, processes or technologies through training, stakeholder engagement and change management activities.
- Communication and Relationship Management: Highly developed written, verbal and facilitation skills, with demonstrated ability to translate complex technical information into clear guidance, lead engagement with diverse stakeholders, influence outcomes and build trusted relationships that support organisational adoption and effective project delivery.
- Strategic Thinking and Continuous Improvement: Demonstrated ability to identify, shape and lead strategic improvement opportunities, including process standardisation, digital innovation and data-led ways of working, to strengthen organisational maturity, improve portfolio consistency and deliver measurable outcomes.
Qualifications and Mandatory Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Architecture, Health Planning, Construction Management, Engineering, Information Management, Digital Engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience working with major health infrastructure projects .
- Knowledge of the Australian Health Facility Guidelines (AusHFG).
- Knowledge of ISO 19650, Digital Engineering frameworks and Asset Information Requirements (desirable).
- Experience with Autodesk Forma, Autodesk Revit, Power BI and related digital delivery platforms (desirable)
