Prosecution Services forms part of Agriculture Victoria within the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).
Reporting to a Senior Solicitor, the Solicitor Prosecutor / Senior Prosecutor supports internal DEECA regulators (Agriculture Victoria, Resources Victoria, Conservation Regulator) and some external regulators with the prosecution of offences under applicable legislation.
The incumbent will also undertake internal reviews of infringement notices, liaise closely with operational areas of the department and provide written and oral advice on procedural, evidentiary and legal matters (subject to holding a practicing certificate) connected with compliance and enforcement activities.
In accordance with the department’s internal policies and other relevant policies and guidelines, the incumbent ensures that any enforcement action taken by the department is fair, proportionate and in accordance with law.
The incumbent should be a lawyer with relevant experience (Solicitor Prosecutor) or an enforcement officer (Senior Prosecutor) with demonstrated experience, knowledge, skills and ability to appear in Court as advocate with minimal supervision.
The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a small team, enjoy flexible working arrangements, and undertake a wide variety of work.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
