The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Site Manager to provide a critical role in Dhurringile.
About the Business Unit
The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria (CV), Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.
The former Dhurringile Prison within the Hume Region and located in the Northeast of Victoria, approximately 35 km from Shepparton, has been recently decommissioned. While its future purpose is still being explored, Corrections Victoria remains responsible for the upkeep of the property.
About the Role
The Site Manager will have a broad range of responsibilities and manage a small team of staff undertaking facilities and grounds maintenance activities as well as farm-related activities including livestock management.
This position will require the incumbent to perform practical and physical duties to assess and manage the different environments in the grounds of the 260-hectare site. The Site Manager will be required to perform work across grasslands and various landscapes in all weather conditions. The local environment has various flora and fauna such as Kangaroo populations, snakes, spiders and foxes which will require the incumbent to manage the OHS risks to self, direct reports, visitors and contractors on site.
