Want to help grow Victoria’s forests? We’re looking for someone interested in working in forest health and silviculture to grow DEECA’s Seedbank?
As a Silviculture Program Support Officer, you'll play a key role in planning and delivering seed collection operations and seed management programs to build seed stores for DEECA’s forest restoration projects. Working with a skilled silviculture team located across Victoria, you’ll manage site assessments in west Gippsland and central highlands, as well as superintending, supporting planning and approvals, and managing local seed facilities at Noojee. You'll develop high-quality operational and tactical plans and maps to enable the safe and effective delivery of silviculture works, with a focus on west Gippsland and central highlands areas. In this role, you'll be able to support the reforestation and silviculture program to ensure that DEECA is ready to respond when needed with the right seeds for forest restoration programs, and ensure they’re extracted, stored and used in the right conditions to meet standards and directly support operational delivery. You'll also bring strong local knowledge to the table, working closely with the District forest and fire planning and operations teams to ensure regional and district silviculture priorities are included in regional and state planning processes.
Your work will help inform the Operational Forest Management Program, and broader 2–5-year planning and strategic frameworks including strategic planning for seed collection, and research projects, making a real difference to supporting forest resilience and recovery for the future.
