About the Division
Student Wellbeing and Engagement Division
The Student Wellbeing and Engagement Division is responsible for promoting and implementing regional and statewide consistency in areas relating to student health, wellbeing, inclusion, and engagement supports.
Divisional staff work closely with both local area and key central office program / policy areas to promote and support regional and statewide consistency and lead professional practice and coordination across the region relating to student health, wellbeing, inclusion and engagement support.
Key functions of the Senior Program Advisor, Youth Justice role include:
• establishing and maintaining effective working partnerships with relevant school staff, relevant Area, Divisional and Central colleagues to work collaboratively to best support policy implementation to improve and young people in Youth Justice. This will include Education Justice Initiative, Youth Justice Education Pathway Coordinators and Education Early Intervention Officers.
• build capability of Area and Regional staff and external stakeholders to understand youth justice processes and role of the Justice Education Engagement Branch. Activities include delivering professional learning, running workshops, providing consultation and advice. This will include building understanding of the impacts on children and young people of their involvement with youth justice.
• provide oversight and monitoring of young people transitioning to and from remand or custody to ensure coordinated support from Parkville, school and care team is delivered.
• access data to inform requests from central and regional staff, effectively analyse data to better direct efforts, and prioritise support for schools with high numbers of children and young people involved with youth justice
• establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Child Protection, Youth Justice Case Managers, Case Managers, Care Managers and carers and supporting/facilitating local partnerships to improve outcomes for young people in youth justice.
