This role sits within the ESWD ( Employee Sfety Wellbeing Inclusion), Response and Recovery Branch, Return to Work and Recovery Team.
About the Role
Their main responsibility is to manage the department's workers' compensation and injury management duties for injured employees in their claims portfolio. They also help employees and managers navigate the workers' compensation process and plan a safe, sustainable return to work after a workplace injury. This role is regionally aligned to the north Victoria region supporting small regional schools. Focusing on supporting claims, relieving administration burden on principals and ensuring that the department complies with the legislative requirements outlined in the Workplace Injury and Rehabilitation Act 2013 (WIRCA 2013).
The specific tasks of the role include:
• effective management of a caseload of workers' compensation claims.
• assists injured workers to remain at or return to work as soon as safely possible after injury.
• payroll support including processing of certificates of capacity, current weekly earnings and pre-injury
average weekly earnings.
• submit new claims in line with legislative requirements.
• establish effective communication channels with treating health providers, injured workers and the department's workers compensation insurer to facilitate transparent and timely return to work.
• complete relevant workers' compensation administration tasks.
• facilitate and lead case management meeting with relevant stakeholders – including injured employees, treating health practitioners and occupational rehabilitation providers.
• keep accurate and complete records undertaken for the claims management activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
• assist with strategic business planning and provide input into policy development.
• negotiate with stakeholders and peers to foster cooperation and ensure timely project, service, or advice delivery.
• ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• build the capability of department staff to proactively support the recovery of injured staff.
• partnering with regions and other internal stakeholders on initiatives to improve recovery outcomes.
• develop and implement strategies to improve outcomes in assigned region.
• work towards key performance indicators set for team.
• contribute to achieving organisational goals through collaboration and effective communication and records management.
