Sentinel Events Officer
The Sentinel Events Officer provides essential operational and administrative support to the Safety Review and System Learning Unit within Safer Care Victoria's Safety Branch. Reporting to the Manager, Sentinel Event and Safety Reviews, this role assists with the coordination, documentation, and logistical aspects of sentinel events.
The Officer supports the timely and efficient management of incident data, stakeholder communications, and review workflows to enable high-quality, system-focused investigations. By maintaining accurate records, facilitating information sharing, and supporting compliance with legislative and organisational standards, the role contributes to SCV's mission of enhancing patient safety and promoting system learning.
The Sentinel Events Officer provides oversight of daily operations of the Sentinel Events Portal, the sentinel events Outlook inbox, management of Power BI data reports, and providing sentinel events data to various levels of the organisation.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the Sentinel Events Officer helps foster a culture of transparency, continuous improvement, and just culture within the Victorian health system. The role also plays a vital part in supporting the operational effectiveness of sentinel event investigations and contributing to the development of tools and processes that underpin SCV's safety review functions.

Review Support Officer
The Review Support Officer works within the Safety Reviews and System Learning Unit of the Safety Branch at Safer Care Victoria (SCV). This role plays a critical supporting function in the delivery of complex safety reviews by providing operational, analytical, and administrative assistance across all stages of the review process.
Reporting to the Manager, Sentinel Events and Safety Reviews, and working closely with Senior Review Officers, the Review Support Officer contributes to SCV's mission to improve care quality and reliability by helping to identify contributory factors to harm and supporting the translation of insights into system-wide safety improvements.
This role provides foundational support in the coordination, preparation, and delivery of safety reviews, ensuring they are conducted effectively and to a high standard. Responsibilities include assisting with data collection and analysis, supporting stakeholder engagement activities, preparing documentation and communications, maintaining project tracking tools, and contributing to the continuous improvement of SCV's review processes.
The Review Support Officer will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across SCV and with external stakeholders, including health services and government agencies. They will demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, and strong organisational and communication skills to help ensure that reviews are thorough, timely, and aligned with SCV's values and strategic goals.
