About the Role
The Senior Wayfinding Development Advisor is responsible for leading the design and development of static and digital wayfinding and passenger information systems for the physical transport environment. This role provides assurance over all specifications built for delivery to ensure the best wayfinding outcomes are achieved by projects.
The role continuously develops and improves the Department of Transport and Planning’s (DTP) wayfinding approach, product design, and manufacturing processes to achieve efficiencies and deliver improved passenger outcomes. Central to this is the development of a consistent, integrated, and accessible information system that helps people easily navigate and use the transport network.
Position accountabilities
· Lead the design, development, and oversight of best-practice wayfinding solutions for projects, ensuring they are user-centred, network-integrated, and aligned with DTP’s strategic objectives.
· Apply the Wayfinding and Customer Information Standards to all project work and actively contribute to their review and improvement, including the development of relevant sections in the Master Style Guide and Master Fleet Guidelines.
· Identify, develop, and embed innovative wayfinding design solutions and delivery specifications that enhance passenger outcomes and streamline production and installation processes.
· Provide authoritative, evidence-based advice to senior management, project partners, and delivery agencies, influencing decision-making to achieve innovative, consistent, and passenger-focused wayfinding outcomes.
· Build and maintain high levels of trust with stakeholders, positioning the Customer Experience division as a trusted source of expertise. Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and responsive team culture.
· Undertake robust cost/benefit analysis of project proposals to support informed decision-making and ensure optimal value for investment.
· Engage and manage suppliers and specialist consultants in line with DTP procurement procedures, ensuring deliverables meet project briefs and quality standards.

Qualifications and role specific requirements

• Demonstrated experience in developing Wayfinding systems in similar environments
