About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
This position sits within the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA). The VRQA is a statutory authority to the Department and acts to protect the interests of students as consumers of education or training services.
The VRQA's role is to register:
-school education providers, including senior secondary
-school boarding premises
-children for home schooling
-vocational education and training (VET) providers that deliver accredited training to domestic students
in Victoria only, or Victoria and Western Australia only.
The VRQA also accredits courses and regulates apprenticeships and traineeships within Victoria.
The role sits within the VET unit of the VRQA and is focused on registering and monitoring compliance of training providers.
About the Role
The Senior Audit Officer is responsible for evaluating accreditation applications for compliance with the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) and the VRQA VET course accreditation requirements. This includes liaising with government bodies and other organisations involved with accreditation, supporting applicants to develop courses and tracking implementation of agreed management actions.
The Senior Audit Officer is responsible, as part of a team, for the registration of registered training organisations (RTOs) to confirm compliance against legislative and regulatory requirements. The duties include conducting audits, scheduling, and managing external suppliers engaged to conduct audits, moderating reports, and determining compliance actions and rectifications where non compliances are identified.
The VET and Industry engagement unit has responsibility for the administration of the recognition framework for Group Training Organisations (GTOs). The framework involves assessment of operations of organisations that employ apprentices and trainees in meeting the National Standards for Group Training Organisations.
The role assists in the development of a risk-based approach to managing compliance, prepares reports and briefings and assists with the branch's other activities as required.
Attributes
The ideal candidate will have excellent planning and organising skills, conceptual and analytic ability to manage risk assessments, the ability to work collaboratively with the team and have expertise in quality assurance, compliance and regulation.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Experience in Education and Training and or experience with audit and compliance is desirable.
Desirable: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent competencies
Desirable: Diploma in Quality Auditing or equivalent competencies
