About the Role
The Supreme Court of Victoria is seeking a legally qualified individual to join the team of Trial Division Researchers, in a full time ongoing role.
The Supreme Court Trial Division Researchers provide high-level specialist research and analysis support to the Judges, Associate Judges and Judicial Registrars in the Criminal Division, Common Law Division, Commercial Court and Associate Judges' Chambers. This involves addressing legal problems and questions that may arise in the preparation of, or course of judgment writing or hearing a matter, researching complex legal questions, analysing case law, statutory interpretation, assisting in the development of special project work led by the Court, and drafting papers on legal topics for conferences, seminars or lectures.
About You
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, suitable for liaising with Judges and other members of the court, as well as highly developed research skills are essential. Previous experience in legal research and a tertiary qualification in law (honours marks highly desirable) are essential. Admission to practice is highly desirable.
