About the Role
The Senior Transport Economist position works in the Forecasting and Evaluation branch of the Modal Planning Division. The Senior Transport Economist will work in a talented team of transport economists, modellers and analysts whose purpose is to ensure high quality modelling and economics lifts the value of DTP’s planning and business cases. The role is responsible for undertaking cost benefit analysis, constructively reviewing and assuring transport economics work for business cases, helping to better integrate transport modelling and economics, contributing to DTP guidance and contributing to Australian Transport Assessment and Planning (ATAP) projects. The role will work collaboratively with colleagues in the Forecasting and Evaluation branch and partner with broader DTP colleagues and project teams delivering planning projects and business cases. The Senior Economist will have strong expertise in applied transport economics and/or transport modelling and thorough knowledge of ATAP and other relevant guidelines, underpinned by a sound understanding of economic theory.

The role requires effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration, building positive working relationships, supporting others in challenging situations, and adapting quickly to changing priorities and environments.
