The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian student's birth to 18 years.
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Corporate Services Division in the Assessment Applications Unit for an ongoing full-time position.
The Assessment Applications unit is responsible for the ongoing development, support and maintenance of critical bespoke applications that are used to deliver the Victorian Certificate of Education, Vocational Education and Training, Victorian Pathways Certificate and National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide software testing services for the VCAA's custom-built applications that are used to run certification processes in Victoria for VCE, VET, VPC and NAPLAN. The role will also assist VCAA business staff in the development and execution of user acceptance test scripts and provide application related support to VCAA business staff.
The role will work closely with project managers, business analysts, application developers and other staff within the Assessment and Reporting Division.
Initially, the main focus of application development will be the Victorian Assessment Software System (VASS) - a web-based interface that is used to provide information to / gather information from Victorian schools. The front end of the application is being updated to match current web design standards. A strong understanding of Senior Secondary administrative processes and the general structure of VCE, VET and VPC will be an advantage in this role.
As a senior member of the development team, the position will also be responsible managing 1-2 small to medium IT development projects each year.
Providing on call support during critical business processing periods is a requirement of this position.

Qualifications and Experience
Required: Minimum ISTQB Foundation qualification or higher
Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology
Desirable: Strong understanding of the VCE Senior Secondary education system – VCE, VPC, VET
