You will lead technical delivery, mentor development teams, and help shape scalable solutions supporting VMIA's insurance, risk, and client engagement platforms. About the Role
As a Senior Systems Architect, you will design, develop, and support VMIA systems built primarily on the Pega Platform. You will ensure application quality, scalability, and long-term sustainability while enabling future enhancements and innovation.
You will work across the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, design, configuration, development, testing, and deployment. The role also provides technical leadership and mentoring to development teams.
Reporting to the Principal Architect (Pega Application Development), you will contribute to VMIA's core insurance, risk, and client engagement platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and implement applications on the Pega Platform
- Contribute across all SDLC phases to deliver scalable solutions
- Perform unit, integration, and system testing for QA and production
- Design and maintain configuration management aligned with best practices
- Review architecture designs with governance and review boards
- Monitor system performance, defects, and coordinate issue resolution
- Perform system health checks and implement improvements
- Lead and mentor developers, promoting collaboration and accountability
- Support Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, QA, Change, and Release processes
- Stay current with emerging technologies and compliance requirements
- Contribute to strategic decisions through innovation and continuous improvement
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture
Stakeholder Collaboration
You will work closely with VMIA IT and Project Delivery teams supporting the Core Insurance, Risk, and Client Engagement Platform (Client360).
Internal collaboration includes:

- Risk Advisers
External collaboration includes software vendors and IT consultants to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 8+ years in software development
- 5+ years as a Pega System Architect or Developer
- Pega Certified Senior System Architect (or equivalent)
- Strong SDLC experience (analysis, design, build, test, deploy)
- Advanced knowledge of PRPC architecture, rules, workflows, data pages, UI, etc.
- Experience with Pega 8.x, Agile Studio, Deployment Manager
- Experience with Pega CRM and Insurance applications (desirable)
