About the Big Housing Build
The landmark $5.3 billion Big Housing Build investment announced in 2020 was a major boost to housing delivery in Victoria. But total investment has now grown to more than $8 billion - delivering even more and better homes in Victoria.
This includes additional programs such as the Regional Housing Fund, Social Housing Growth Fund and others.
These combined programs are delivering over 16,000 homes, while our High-rise Redevelopment Project will deliver even more homes, with a pipeline of projects through to 2051.
Announced as a key pillar of the Victorian Government’s Housing Statement, the High-rise Redevelopment Program will progressively retire and redevelop all of Melbourne’s 44 public housing towers to deliver thousands more modern and accessible social, affordable and market homes.
From the time of the program announcement, a total of five estates in inner Melbourne are already under active redevelopment and at various stages of project feasibility, planning, procurement and delivery. Once complete, the Program will provide homes for 30,000 people including an increase of at least 10% social housing, improve the urban amenity of inner-city precincts, foster thriving and inclusive communities and capitalise on the housing potential of the well-located sites.
This combined program of delivery presents a once in a lifetime career opportunity to be a part of the high-performing team at Homes Victoria responsible for delivering large-scale urban renewal projects that transform neighbourhoods and drive generational change.
